How we buy
Three suppliers, all of whom we have visited.
- Guimarães, Portugal. A four-generation jacquard mill that weaves our wool. Sixty-one people, and the same loom supervisor since 1994.
- Normandy and northern Portugal.European Flax® certified fibre, spun and sewn by a family workshop outside Barcelos.
- Portland, Oregon. A two-person shop in the Central Eastside milling white oak from a salvage yard in Vancouver, Washington.
We publish what we pay them as a share of the retail price on each product page. It is between 22% and 31%, which is high for this category and is most of why our prices are what they are.
